Hello again Zags! We hope that you have managed to recover since last night, and hope you’re warm and that your ears are still ringing!
It was a GREAT couple of days for the Zags – Men’s Soccer got the overtime win against Portland on Senior Day, Women’s Basketball got a HUGE win against #22 Dayton, and the Men’s team last night absolutely rocked SMU! The energy in the Kennel these past few days has been absolutely insane, and people across the country are starting to notice:
We also scored a pretty major shout out last night:
Now, let’s not get too ahead ourselves, since the match-up with UA is still almost three weeks away. Still, if the Zona Zoo is noticing us, we’ve gotta be doing something right!!
Looking forward this week, there are a TON of things going on as we lead up to Thanksgiving Break, so there’s plenty of opportunities to come out and support your fellow Zags!
First, CCASL is hosting a number of great events this week if you’re looking for some community service hours or a great time.
This week is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week, and the Homeless Outreach Team has three great events planned. If you are looking for an eye-opening experience, check them out!
On Wednesday, they are hosting a Food for Thought dinner from 4:30-8:00 pm: a student shuttle will run every half hour to House of Charity for students.
On Thursday, come watch A Place at the Table, a documentary that follows the journey of food insecurity and the serious implications that hunger imposes.
On Friday, take the ultimate Urban Plunge – an immersion experience in Spokane with Zag Volunteer Corps.
Then, on Sunday and Monday night, come out to GUSR Night Live – GUSR’s play for the semester! If you’ve never been to one, they are an absolute blast. GUSR Night Live runs from 7-8 pm in Cataldo both nights, and a ticket can be yours for a $5 donation!
Also happening this week, a group of Zags are vying for the final spot in a nation competition put on by PwC, and they need your help! Vote for your fellow Zags simply by following this link, and clicking on the VOTE button for Gonzaga! https://www.facebook.com/PwCUSCareers/app_1588247048061670
Next up, PLEASE UPDATE YOUR ZAG ALERT INFORMATION! This is actually a huge deal, and a major part in keeping all Zags safe. We know there have been a number of situations (we all know the one) that ZagAlert would have helped to alleviate, and the new system promises to be a whole lot better. Plus, if 95% of Zags update their ZagAlert info by December 3rd, we will all get 25% off at the Zag Shop, and who doesn’t love that! SO. Check out the instructions and track the progress of the campaign at www.gonzaga.edu/zagalert, and update your information today!
Finally, here’s what we’ve got going on this week….
Tuesday, Women’s Basketball was back in the Kennel! Fresh off their return to the Top 25, the Zags won a great game against Idaho State 88-63, and are now 2-0 on the Season!
Wednesday, Men’s Basketball returns as they begin play in the NIT Tip-Off, hosting St. Joseph’s at 8:00 pm. Word on the street is that St. Joe’s is bringing their hawk mascot with them, so the theme for Wednesday’s game is HUNT THE HAWK! Dress is your best camo or hunting outfit, and bring a creative sign – there will be Battle in Seattle tickets given out to the most creative students! Also, if you still need tickets to this game, head to the ticket office TODAY before 5:00 pm to get them!
Thursday night, Volleyball begins their final home stand when they take on San Diego in the Martin Center at 6:00.
They then return Saturday at noon, taking on #21 BYU at noon. A pair of wins in the Kennel this weekend would be awesome, so come out of root for your Zags!
Then, Saturday night, Men’s Basketball returns as they continue the NIT, taking on St. Thomas Aquinas at home at 6:00. Both games in the NIT Tip-Off are ESPN games, and it’s their final game at home before they head to New York to compete in the NIT Semi-Finals over Thanksgiving. Let’s send them off with a lot of energy and a rocking Kennel!
Finish the week strong Zags! We’re entering the home stretch of the semester, so stay strong and, as always, keep rocking!! Love you guys!
